-------------------------
EXERCISE:
From a classic work of fiction choose a single incident, and in 300
words or less rewrite the incident as a newspaper article.
-------------------------
Follow the famous five W's of news writing. Tell us in the first
paragraph who,
what, where, when, and why. Then provide all the juicy details.
You
might choose a scene from Romeo and Juliet to report to the Daily
Planet,
or interview Jane Eyre about what it was like to see her Uncle Reed's
ghost in
the Red Room.
To
introduce your story, please let your reader know, in a brief sentence
or two,
what scene you've chosen from what classic work.

Critiquing Suggestions:
Is the newspaper format being followed?
Are the five W's covered in the first paragraph? Has this been done
skillfully?
Was there enough of a hook in the first paragraph to pull you into
reading on? If
so, identify the hook.
