-------------------------
Exercise: In 300 words or less, write a scene from the POV of a
child aged five to
thirteen.
-------------------------
Show us the world through a child's eyes, his or her perception of the
world in a way
that is convincingly childlike.
Give us a sense of the child's indvidual personality, and the things
that occupy his or
her attention.
Present the context while remaining in the child’s voice.
For this exercise focus
more on staying true to the child’s voice and POV than the actual scene.
-------------------------
Exercise: In 300 words or less, write a scene from the POV of a child
aged five to
thirteen.
-------------------------
When critiquing a submission, highlight good use of childlike language
and
viewpoint, and moments where your understanding of the child's unique
experience
of the world felt particularly rich, and--most important--credible.
