-------------------------

Exercise: Write a scene of 400 words or less in which a character jumps
to a conclusion after overhearing a conversation.

-------------------------

Take an overheard snippet of conversation and build a short scene from
it. First, in no more than a line or two, tell us what your character
has overheard. Then continue with the character's take on the situation
--he or she may imagine the worst, the best, or just something worthy
of an  eavesdropper.

-------------------------

In your critique, discuss whether the suppositions and actions
are plausible. Would you want to read more?
